I just have no idea why the negative would be in the camera. Like… they had to pull the film out, develop it, and then put it back in the camera? Why? It’s not like you can take another picture with it.

When you have some of the greatest actors on your anathology the series, Cassidy and Culp and so many others, you are the greatest off all time.

It's so fun because Columbo can't care less about how a murderer views him, but he cares very deeply what the innocents think of him and go out of his way to genuinely bond with them

Cassidy was the best in the 3 he was on. Such class. The one on the beach house and the together and the magician were so good.

While watching I just assumed Columbo already knew it was him, but I feel like he actually isnt suspicious until the very end. He even second-guesses him out of disbelief, "You dont think I have anything here?" and the long stare is when it clicks and he realizes his boss is the killer. All it takes is one mess-up and he realizes its him.

Columbo was the Smartest man in the room

Columbo wasn't a genius just for his crime solving skills. He was a bona fide genius for his bumbling, ill-dressed, appearance that always threw the criminals off track. They just assumed he was stupid. Which was Columbo's keen edge. Weaving that prison cell around you, all the while you are thinking he is stupid. Mentally tormenting them. Till the trap snaps shut. I think he pretty much always knew in the beginning who it was. After all, why would he focus on just that one particular person?

this is my favorite one I been telling everyone about it this one comes number 2 the number one in my books is the one that says rest in peace mrs. Columbo.

in most of the time columbo has to find the hard way about the killer which preson did the killing but not on this one because the poor crazy 😧 woman told columbo she did the killing 😢😮 little did she know that columbo was pretending that he was dieing and that's the way to do it but this is not the only time it was same other epesots that the person told columbo he or she did it.

EXCELLENT EPISODE!

Ross Martin is so good in this. He brings both depth and emotion to what is essentially a one-dimensional character. A great actor -- and a hugely underrated one. Incredibly smart, too. He spoke seven languages and earned business and law degrees before deciding he wanted to be an actor instead, haha! Good for him! Gone far too soon -- had a massive heart attack after a game of tennis at his San Diego country club. Just 61 years old. RIP.

I think the scene with Leonard Nimoy was FAKE Anger by Columbo. Columbo was making it clear if the other Doctor Nimoy had operated on and put dissolving sutures in died. There would be an autopsy incriminating Nimoy. This goaded Nimoy into giving the Doctor a drug to make it look like his operation went badly. Therefore giving Nimoy the opportunity to put the correct sutures in... Columbo needed to make it clear what would happen if the Doctor died thus saving the Doctor's life and eventually nabbing Nimoy.

Fascinating seeing those antique coin-operated parking meters. It must have been a big nuisance having to carry around coins to put in them. I know that modern parking meter machines can sometimes take cash, but who does that anymore? I haven't carried cash in many years. In today's world Colombo would merely be able to look at the person's bank records to see if he or she parked somewhere, and how long they paid for.

Columbo always got the culprit for sure, every time.

In the 1980s I was in USSR (Kiev). We had Soviet police in our hotel room [long story] but the chief copper had a Columbo coat & was squeezing a tennis ball in one hand. No cigar though. Had Chief Wigum from the Simpsons stood behind him. We were all thinking what's he going to do next.... He went out then came straight back in. We're giggling away waiting for "Uh, one more thing". He asked our Intourist guide Tanya "Why are they laughing?"

0:13 - looking at the exterior, this scene looks lovely, but I bet this area is prone to fire in Los Angeles.

1:52 - That "relax" was an ad lib and the reaction from Columbo, that smile, was in fact from Peter. As mentioned on here before, a lot of this scene was ad libbed, and the relaxed nature of it was very unique to a murder mystery show.
